Hollywood Connection Covid Update
Because our event is taking place in both the Santa Clara Convention Center and the Hyatt Hotel, and because the dancers will be separated by age in different ballrooms, we will never reach the 500 crowd capacity in one spacethat is considered an “Indoor Mega Event”. In fact, we will be well below it.

What this means for you is NO TESTING and NO VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS prior to entry.

The guidelines are as follows…..

  • Dancers MUST stay in their designated ballrooms for all classes.  Dancers cannot move rooms.
  • Observers will be allowed.  Wristbands may be purchased on site. Observers may move rooms if you have multiple dancers in separate ballrooms. Yet we ask NOT to observe in rooms you do not have a registered dancer.
  • Studios will perform in blocks for the competition.
  • Parents/Family may watch their studio block only.
  • Studios will have designated dressing room times and must adhere to the block scheduling.
  • Dancers must exit the dressing room after their block is complete.
  • Warm Up/Scholarship Presentations will take place individually in each age ballroom
  • Masks are required indoors for the State of California.
  • Mask must cover the nose and mouth. Clear face masks and clear shields are not acceptable.
  • Surgical masks or K95 masks are recommended.
  • The exception is dancers may remove their masks while performing on stage during the competition but must put their masks back on in the dressing room.

What to expect at the Convention?
Please CLICK HERE to read about what to expect for you and for the dancers!

Monica Loza is taking over all the comp team accounts.  She is doing a top to bottom audit to make sure everything is in order.  If you are finding any discrepancies on your account or have a question about a balance please let us know.  We are happy to help and to work with you if you need to make payments.

Here are some more updates…

Costume Challenges

We just got word that we have about 70 costumes that will not come in time for our first comp.  We are in the process of reordering right now.  Here is the list of costumes, if your child’s dance is on this list please be patient while we find new options for the kids.  If your dance is on this list and you have not purchased rhinestones please do not buy yet.  We need a bit of time to pick new costumes and make sure the original rhinestones will work with the new costume or pick new stones.  If you have already ordered stones there may be a chance you will have to return rhinestones you ordered and buy new ones.   I am so sorry about this.  We are at the mercy of the costume companies and they are being affected by not having the supplies they need to complete costume orders.

October 20th Update

Do you want to sign up for a dance photoshoot for your dancer?

On Saturday January 29th and Sunday January 30th we will have Melissa, our fabulous photographer, come into the studio to give all of you the opportunity for a photoshoot for your dancer.

You will be able to choose from two different backdrops: black or pink!

Each session is 30 minutes long and your dancer will come with two different looks and you will get 4 individual poses. with the choice one both backdrops or sticking to one, totally up to you.

Each session costs $55 dollars.

Here is a link where you can sign up for a time slot.

This is first come first serve, if both days fill up and more people are wanting a mini session, please let us know by emailing ecpaccompteam@gmail.com and we will look into opening up another weekend.

Here’s the link:

https://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=21759582&appointmentType=27067449

We would love to use your dancers photos for studio and competition team marketing, please keep in mind that in order to use the photos for marketing, we tend to stay away from photos that show midriff as well as photos angels that display (crotch shots) , for example a battement facing the front.

REMEMBER,

These are YOUR photos and we want your dancers to be the artist that they are, wear what you want in your photos and do the poses that you want to do.

but we just keep in mind that if you want to be featured on our social media then we cannot use photos that do not follow those guidelines.

Notes from photographer:

What to wear?:

“For the black backdrop, solid colored leos would look great, simple outfits work best. the lighting for this backdrop will be a bit more dramatic.”

“For the pink, skirts, jeans, fun prints, greens colors would be super cool, this will be a bit more light and whimsical”

“The black backdrop will be first, so if you sign up for a session please come in this outfit first and then she will give you time to change into the second if you choose to do both backdrops. if you decide you only want to use one backdrop that is fine too.”

Cannot wait to see all of the beautiful photos of your dancers!

Reminder Video

Here is a link to a short video from Miss Ryann with some important updates and information.

Please take 5 minutes to watch this video so that you can be in the loop as to how everything is going at the studio.

Hollywood Connection

Please read the newest update for Hollywood Connection specialities

In the past Hollywood Connection has only allowed for a certain number of specialties at this comp.  In the past two years we have been extremely fortunate to get all of our solos and duos in.  Unfortunately this season we will have to do a random raffle selection as to who will get to take their specialties to Santa Clara.  If there is anyone that wants to opt out, let us know so we can remove your dance from the raffle.  Bill at Hollywood Connection did say that they would let us know if the additional specialty dances will be able to get in as we get closer, but for now we can only take all 25 groups and then 25 solo/duos.  We have a total of 50 specialties on the team.  We do not have a date to select these yet, but we will let you know as soon as we can.

If there are any questions please let us know

Hello Comp Families

This is Miss Lori and Miss Ryann.  We wanted to pass on some information to everyone regarding Specialty Fees and Payments.  As I am sure most of you know from reading the 2022 handbook, Specialty Lessons are to be charged this season with your monthly tuition. Since we did not start lessons until after the first of Aug, we will proprate this month, but starting Sept 1st your tuition and your private lesson fees will be charged on the same day up front for the entire month.  Here is an update from Nina, we wanted to pass on.  We will be running August fees for private lessons on Aug 14th along with your team 2 fee, unless you have paid your team fee up front.

ECPAC Private Lesson Policies (solo/duo/trio)

In an effort to streamline private lessons we have adopted the following policies that will begin on September 1.

Private lessons will maintain a consistent schedule

Tuition will be paid in advance on the 1st of the month with your regular tuition.

Tuition will be based on 4 lessons per month

There are no make up lessons

If your lesson is cancelled by your teacher you will get a credit for that lesson

If you cancel your lesson with 48 hours of advanced notice you will get the credit for that lesson

If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice you do not get a credit for the lesson.

Oct 20th is your $150 Choreo Fee date.  Please mark your calendars for this so there are no surprises when we run it.

If you have any questions please let us know.   Thank you so much for being part of this team!  We are looking forward to a great year!

Nationals UPDATES

Pink Team Dancers

We finally have an update from Hollywood Connection regarding minis age 6 & under.  If your dancer is under the age of 7, in order for you to compete at nationals you will need to sign up your dancer for convention.

So far everyone has been charged the $95 banquet fee, the convention fee for nationals, including their banquet ticket is $450.

Everyone with a dancer 6 and under will be charged the difference by next Friday June 4th.  The total for this will be $345.  At nationals they will all be in the 7-8 year old room.  It is not clear yet if they will be combined again or not, this will all be determined on guidelines at the time of convention and we will keep you posted.

Icon Runner Up Winners

There are several things I need from parents by Sunday this weekend. The music video you are allowed to participate in is $75.00.  Even though your dancer won Icon Runner Up this fee still needs to be charged if you want to participate. Looks like this will be on Sunday June 25 per the tentative schedule. If you would like to add this for your dancer, please fill out the attached google doc at bottom.  This will be charged next Friday June 4th. Along with the Music Video, your icon runner up has the option of also competing their solo in the icon solo category, in addition to the regular solo category.  I need to know if your dancer is competing in the icon solo, regular solo competition or if they are opting to just do one of the two. Icon solo fee is $140 but comes along with video of your dancer.  If they opt to do regular solo comp they will be competing for normal placement and have already been charged.  If your dancer does not have a solo and would still like to compete a solo for icon with a teacher please notify both Miss Lori and the teacher you would like to do the solo asap as time if getting close.   Please fill out the google doc link below for this information.

Scholarship Recipients

If your dancer received a scholarship that pays for any portion of nationals i need an email so i can contact Hollywood Connection to receive the credit on our account for your dancer and apply the credit to your account.  I have several dancers that this should pertain to.  I will also try to email those families by the end of the week if I don’t hear from you.

Music Video

Anyone who received a music video scholarship, this cost $75 and the day for this event is Sunday June 25.  Please make sure you fill out the google doc to inform me if you would like to participate and pay for your dancer to take advantage of this event.

Banquet Tickets

So far everyone has been charged the $95 banquet fee, in the $450 convention fee for nationals. This includes the banquet ticket for your dancer

Please let me know if there are any families that would like banquet tickets. I have a list of families that have emailed or filled out the google doc previously to request additional tickets.  This is $95 event on the last day or nationals.  Teachers will be there and this is included in your dancers convention fee.  Only fill out the google doc below IF you want to attend with your dancer. Otherwise if your dancer would like to attend with teachers that is fine too.  As the date gets closer we will send out more info on meeting place and times for the banquet.

May 19th Update

Hollywood Connection-Convention (this weekend)

Remember that all dancers should arrive 2 hours prior to competition time.  We have not heard anything about not being allowed in the dressing rooms until a specific time so we can utilize this time to practice through routines, we can find space to do this.  Hope this is helpful but if you have any questions please let me know:)

Convention dress code- Free dress. You may wear anything that is dance attire. Bright colors, leotards, shorts & tops that are form fitting and allow for clean lines are great for audition day. Hair is also important to keep in mind as you don’t want it to be distracting. Hair should be pulled back away from dancers face.

Participation Waiver

If you have not done so already, please make sure you fill out this waiver for this weekend. Every dancer will need this to participate this weekend!

Banquet tickets, so far there have been very few who have responded.  Tickets are $95 and will sell out.  For those of you who responded I am keeping track of you, but please know that if you do not respond wanting a ticket you will not be able to attend. This is NOT Mandatory, but a special event for the dancers and families.  Please let me know by Monday May 24th by emailing ecpaccompteam@gmail.com

Anyone wondering what the Banquet is, the final night of Nationals HC holds a banquet for the dancers where certain daces will receive awards, like an award show. These are updates & other information straight from Legacy.

This will be a 4 day competition with the event running on Thursday May 13 to Sunday, May 16th. Please make sure your entries are correct!

We recommend anyone in a “high risk” category stay home. We are live streaming, so the entire event can be viewed from the safety of home. The livestream will be posted to a link on the Legacy home pageUse chrome as your browser as it seems to be the only browser to fully support our live stream. Also, the livestream will hit your device muted. You must unmute your device to hear sound

At this event our capacity limits are 496 people, Masks are required & social distancing is to be practiced at all times, except for dancers performing on stage (remove masks prior to entrance & they must mask up immediately upon exiting the stage). We recommend having a plastic baggy with the dancer’s name on it so the mask can be put in the bag prior to taking the stage and put back on as soon as they exit. We will have a table backstage for dancers to leave their baggies.  If you want to wear masks on stage you can. There will be no point deductions. If you & your dancers desire to “avoid” dressing rooms, there will be no costume point deductions if you decide to just do dancewear.

Due to COVID we will not be producing paper programs. Instead, programs will be posted on our website for FREE a day the event. They won’t stay on the website forever, so if you want a keepsake make sure to download or print it before it disappears.

Building Entry & Entry Times

We are very serious about not allowing anyone in the building more than 30 minutes prior to your “time block” start time (loading in props would be about the only exception). Please make sure your parents & dancers are aware of this. ANYONE with a temperature reading of 100.4 degrees or above will not be allowed in the facility. The following link is a “smartwaiver” that everyone must sign (if over 18, under 18 guardian signatures will be required) to attend or participate. This can/should be accomplished before arriving at the venuehttps://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/60960753c50a9/web/

Guidelines

Please refer to the COVID guidelines posted on our website. Remember that we limit attendance for the SAFETY of ALL.

AWARDS PROCEDURES

Each time block will end with adjudicated awards. We ask that only soloists & 1 team captain from each duet/trio & group be present on stage for this and they must be masked. There will also be some Top 10’s going out at the end of every “Set” as well. Please refer to your schedule for this. Please remember that dancers are NOT required to participate in any awards ceremony, however, we will not be mailing plaques or trophies from any adjudicated award set so a studio representative must be present to collect your awards if you wish to take them home.

At this event there will NOT be a Final Awards ceremony. Unannounced Top 10’s, Title Categories, National Invites, Scholarships, ADCC & Legacy Award winners will be posted on our website by Tuesday. We will ship all these final awards to you, so please make sure we have a good mailing/delivery address.

“NEW”- Due to Covid, aside from adjudicated awards we are doing away with trophies this season. Instead we have designed beautiful plaques/street signs to commemorate your accomplishments. Also, if a category has less than 20 entries we will only be doing a Top 5. Categories with 20 or more entries, we will do our usual Top 10.

Performance Schedule

We pride ourselves in staying on time.  Please have your dancers ready at least 30 minutes before their scheduled start time. You should arrive at the venue warmed up & in your 1st costume if possible. We expect dancers to be ready and on time following the order of the schedule.

Photo & Video Rules

Please let your students & parents know that photography or videotaping of any kind at Legacy events is strictly prohibited. This is done as much to protect you and your work, as it is to protect their children. This has become a sick world and predators know that attending dance competitions are free. They come armed with their cameras to shoot your young dancers. We’re unfortunately nailing predator’s way too often and have had 2 or 3 taken away in handcuffs in the last 3 seasons. The no videotaping rule is also to protect your choreography. Your cooperation & assistance in policing these matters are needed. We will deduct points from constant offending studios.

Photo & Video Packages

If you are interested in our pre-order studio PHOTO & VIDEO packages, all info is on the homepage of your online account. Disregard the deadline. We are holding open the discount for the remainder of the season.

Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions or problems. We’re very excited about this event & hope you are too. See you soon 🙂

May 5th Update

Hello families, we want to first thank all of you for your patience with the craziness of the change in venue last minute for our Legacy Regional Competition.  Please make sure you read through everything as there is both Legacy information and Nationals information that is very important.  For Legacy, we are in the process of getting additional information, a physical address of the event in Reno, as there are two locations with the same name.  Once I have that information and a schedule with start time on Friday & Saturday I will forward that along.  For hotel, we have not been given a hosting hotel or anything with a discounted rate.  If we get that information for those of you wanting to stay Friday night we will surely send that soon.

Right now we only know that all teams except senior teams listed below will compete Friday night May 14th with start time of about 5 or 6.  This is tentative so don’t hold me fully to that as we know things can change, but just so you have an idea.  For Saturday we still do not have any time frame but that will be sent out as soon as I get the info as well.

The following teams will still be attending the competition:
Frozen Friends
Sparkle Team
Green Lyrical
Green Tap
Green Jazz
Green MT
Blue Tap
Blue Lyrical
Blue Jazz
Blue Hip Hop
Blue MT
Turquoise Jazz
Turquoise Lyrical
Red Tap
Orange Tap – Saturday
Orange Jazz – Saturday
Orange MT – Saturday
Orange Lyrical – Saturday
Senior Team – Saturday
Smooth Criminal
Adam & Steve – Saturday

Purple teams will also be competing IF we attend Legacy.

All other Solo’s and Duo’s for high school or teen ages will perform Friday night if not listed above.

If your dancer is not attending the event we will apply a credit to your account by the end of the week and it will apply to your nationals fees.

IMPORTANT NATIONALS INFO

Nationals Fee – Due May 7th
Nationals fees are being updated as we speak and will all be in by the end of the week prior to them coming out on May 7th.  These fees are also on your contract for you to view as well,  so please take a look at your account prior so you are prepared for the payment.

Broadway Babies (ages 5-6)
Dancers ages 5-6 years, we are waiting to hear back from Hollywood Connection about the Broadway Babies Convention Room.  We know it is not listed on the regionals schedule or on the nationals fees at this time.  I have reached out to them for additional information and will forward on this information as soon as I get it.  If they are not doing convention at regionals I will also credit your account once that is confirmed.

Banquet Info
This is on the final day of nationals.  This is the awards ceremony for the entire weekend.  Everyone dresses in semi formal attire and dinner is served at this event.  In the past they have done a red carpet area where you get to take pictures with your friends and family along with pictures with members of the Hollywood Connection Staff.  This is a big deal for the kids, they do it big.  With Covid and regulations I am not sure what the numbers will be for attendance, but I have asked for info on this if it’s available.  Banquet Tickets are $95, your dancers banquet tickets are included with their convention fees.  If your dancer is age 5-6 and a Broadway Babies Convection Dancer I have added this fee onto your dancers account since we are not seeing a room for them and are awaiting confirmation on this.  I need parents to email me and let me know if they would like an additional ticket for their family to attend with their dancer so I can add this fee.

Fees not included on  your account for nationals.
Until we complete our regional event we will not know if your dancer will be awarded to be a part of any of the additional events that take place at nationals, for example, Icon, Icon Solo, Video Workshop etc.  These fees will be added after the regional event along with any scholarships that may be awarded.

Scholarships
If your dancer has a scholarship to use from last season for nationals I need this prior to Friday May 7th so I can apply it.

I will also include all of this in the newsletter to go out this week.  If anyone has any questions please email me and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.  I am working in and out of the office throughout the week so if I dont get back to you right away I know I will as soon as I get a chance.

Take care everyone and enjoy the remainder of the weekend:)

March 24th Update

Celebrity dance competition update

We still do not know what day we will be dancing or the order of our routines for our block schedule.  Celebrity did send over some information regarding the competition. Dancers will be able to dance on stage only with out masks. Due to the ever-changing guidelines, make sure you have your clear and your tan mask available and bring to the competition. As of right now there will only be one spectator per dancer.  They will have a live stream available.  Everyone will be required to wear a mask while in the venue at all times.  As soon as we get an update of which day we will be dancing and timeslot and order, we will send out that information.  Again if you have any questions please feel free to message the ECPACCOMTEAM@Gmail.com

March 10th Update

Masks for comp

nudes masks for child sizes at the front desk, pick one up before Friday.

We need to have both clear and cloth nude masks at comp.  Spotlight is allowing us to wear the clear masks on stage unless we are told when we get there this has changed.  We must arrive in cloth masks and be prepared for the guidelines to change and have the nude ones as a backup option.  Sorry to last minute this information but with the guidelines things are ever changing.  We will move forward with having both as options for the remainder of the season.  Thank you for everyone’s patience through all of this, this is new to us too!

Reminder to fill out the Covid waiver for spotlight.

We are still missing several of these forms and your dancer will not be able to perform without having this when we get there on Friday at 5:30. All of the dancers will also be temperature checked at the door at 5:30 check in.

Spotlight Competition Friday March 12

Studio Check In: 5:30pm(everyone must be at check in), stage time 6:20pm

Check the schedule from last weeks update to see the order of your child’s dances.  As soon as dancers are done with their stage performance we ask that the immediately change into their next dance costume to be ready.  Time will be limited and go very fast.

Location: Grand Sierra Hotel, ballroom number is unknown you may want to get there early to ask
All dancers should be in their first dance costume, hair and make up ready.  Please remember to wear ECPAC gear over costume to stay warm.  Dancers will need both nude and clear masks for stage.

Dressing rooms: only 100 people at a time are allowed in dressing rooms.  Hotel has Asked that no siblings be in the dressing room unless there is an emergency.  As of now one family member per dance I’m ballroom with max capacity of 100. None of the dancers will be allowed to leave the dressing rooms until all their dances are done.  We need them together.

It is highly recommended that each dancer should bring water and a clean snack for dressing room, the kids will need it for energy.  It will be a long night for some of them.

If any new parents have any questions please reach out to Miss Lori via email at ecpaccompteam @gmail.com or your team mom we are very happy to help.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

March 3rd Update

Hello Comp Families!

We just received notice that all dancers will be required to wear cloth masks at the Reno competition.  I found a skin-toned mask for children and I ordered a bulk of them for all our dancers age 8 and under or for whoever may fit that size.  The problem is they only came in one color.  I am hoping we can either dye them or use foundation to change them to suit our dancers who need a non-caucasian-colored mask.

For any dancer who needs an adult-size mask, Discount Dance carries them in different skin tones.  Here is the link

https://www.discountdance.com/dancewear/style_A004AP.html?&pid=33429&Shop=Style&&skey=mask&search=true&SortOrder=R&SID=1531397884

If your dancer needs an adult-size mask please order it TODAY!

If your dancer wears a child-sized mask I have a bulk of masks coming, you do not need to order anything.  Here is what they look like

That is all the information we have as of now.  We are working on getting the competition to tell us our schedule for the weekend!

Nina

February 17th Update

Comp Showcase and Filming

Hello Comp Families!  Our Virtual Comp Showcase and filming is next Sunday Feb 28th!  Here are some important details for you

1.  One parent per dancer may watch for each section and be backstage to help with costume changes.  For example if your dancer is in the Pink Co-hort 1 parent can stay and watch the Pink Co-hort, but you can’t stay and watch the other co-horts in person.  You CAN watch all the cohorts perform live Virtually!
2.  We would love for all of you to watch all the dances, with your dancers and be able to have your family and friends watch live.  We are broadcasting the live stream over Facebook.  You can purchase your ticket to watch for $7.99 by using this link https://fb.me/e/3unJD8J7q.  Please share this with your friends and family members

3.  Do not forget to order your clear masks HERE.  The dancers will be wearing their own masks while “backstage” and switching into their clear masks before they go in for filming.  The CDC says a positive exposure to covid happens when you are within 6 feet away from someone for 15 min or more.  Since most of the dances are only 2 minutes, even if the dancer is in 6 dances we are still within the 15 min exposure time.  These face sheilds are an extra precaution.  However, if you are not comfortable with the faceshield and you are more comfortable having your dancer wear her regular mask you are welcome to do so.  If you can find a mask that matches her costume that would be awesome!

4.  Please get a color stay lipstick to help prevent smears while taking masks on and off.  Revlon ColorStay in Forever Scarlet is perfect!  Here is the amazon link to order Do not use the gloss!

5.  Please put foundation on your dancer’s white mask straps.

5.  Please either drop off your dancer at the outside door of room 1 (small dance room) or have your dancer ready 45 min before her performance time.  Our “dressing rooms” will open at 7:30 am!  Please pick up your dancer from the outside door to room 1 within 15 minutes of her performance time ending.

6.  All dancers should wear their hair in a low pony with a part (either side)  EXCEPT FOR:
  • PINK LYRICAL.  Pink Lyrical should have a low bun.
  • SPARKLE SQUAD TAP. Half up, Half down

Rhinestones & Shoes Update

Turquoise Jazz: no rhinestone pattern has been sent or made because a couple of the girls needed new sizes and are still waiting for them.  We can not put rhinestones on the costumes until everyone has them in hand to avoid having some stoned and others not.  The costumes for the girls who needed to exchange their size are due in next week, once we have them Ryann will work with a parent on the team to get a pattern out asap.

Turquoise Lyrical: no stones for this dance.  We are working on getting them a new belt, which we will send home once we have them in hand as well.

Jazz Shoes: If you placed tan or black jazz shoes on your comp accessory order form, we are unable to get those for you as Capezio has discontinued them. At this time you will need to find the Bloch super jazz shoe from a third party seller.

Spotlight NV Comp Info

We have the option of doing a block schedule with this competition.  This means our studio will get a scheduled time for this event where only our studio will be there.  I’m not sure what day or what time this will be yet.  We normally get this information about 1-2 weeks prior.  We will be wearing clear masks while dancing for safety.  Also, remember that this is no different than attending a venue in San Jose or Sacramento as we had planned.  This is still at an event center with the same safety guidelines.  We understand the drive is longer than normal and depending on the time we get for our studio block a hotel stay might be necessary.  Our suggestion would be to make a hotel reservation somewhere that has a free cancellation policy so that when you get the schedule you are able to decide what is best for your family.  I have called and emailed the competition to try to get additional information to pass on and will do so once I hear back.

Note: The comp is advertised as Reno, but the venue is actually in Carson City.

Confirmation or Decline Survey for Spotlight Carson City NV Comp

Here is a link for comp families to fill out to confirm or decline attending the Carson City NV competition on March 12-14.  Please have this filled out by Sunday Jan 24th so we can prepare for anyone that is not going to attend.  This information is very important as we will need time to restage the dances and also adjust the registration for this event.

Link:  https://forms.gle/XfmJNgdfBjyxmccy8

Optional Competitions

If your dancer is doing a specialty this season and you would like them to attend an out of state competition, we are more than happy to help out with this.  Please email Miss Lori ecpaccompteam@gmail.com for information.

Costume Updates:

Turquoise Lyrical – We are ordering brown elastic for belts

Schedule for Showcase & Video Feb 28th

All teams (including Sparkle Squad and Frozen Friends), solos and duos will participate in the filming.  We are in the process of making the schedule and will email it out within the next week and will also include it to the comp section of newsletter.  We are trying to have everyone be on one day, but until we work out the schedule please keep both Saturday and Sunday available.  This will be treated just like a normal competition day, full make up, comp hair, jewelry and costumes needs to be worn.  We are planning to live stream the filming so family and friends can watch.  As soon as we have those details we will send you info on how to purchase a live stream link.  Dance will be required to wear clear masks when they are performing, just like we did with Nutcracker.  Miss Nina has supplied us with a link for where to purchase these, below is the link for a box of 10 masks

https://amzn.to/36r6KQA

Dancers will be required to wear their regular masks while waiting to film and change into their clear masks right before they perform.

We will provide more details, backstage procedures, etc as we get closer to the filming day.

Buddies-Comp Buddies List 2020/2021

Hi Comp Families-

Reminder: Please deliver your letter and any supplies you signed up for by tomorrow to the front desk.

Buddies for the year:
We have created a buddy list for the year. Please look at the list and find your dancer’s name and their buddy. This is an important part of building community at the studio, but being virtual this year we are going to have to work with each other to make this work!!!!!
  • Our first buddy activity is a virtual message (video or audio) between the dancers. Dancers can wish each other luck at the competition run through, tell them what they are excited for this season, share their favorite style of dance, share a favorite quote or dance move. Please have dancers send this before 1/18/21. Use the attached list for contact information.
  • It may be a good idea to contact the parent of your dancer’s buddy to discuss how virtual messages will be sent. For example: I will give Kaila’s buddy Kaila’s phone number to send and receive buddy messages.
  • Please remember to remind your dancers about these virtual messages as you see them come up. Once comps are adjusted and finalized we will send a list of dates for buddy activities.
  • All dancers need to fill out a buddy information card this week. This will give buddies information about each other. Teachers will try to take care of this in Tech classes but remind your dancer to do this. They are at the front desk.
  • Information cards about your dancer’s buddy will be sent home Monday 1/18.  Parents you may want to snag these from your kiddos so you have them.
Please reach out with questions. Let’s help keep our kiddos connected with one another during these trying times.

Thanks for all you do!

Comp Buddies List 2020/2021

Have your dancer stop by the front desk this week to fill out a buddy information card!

Video Transcript from Nina

Hello Comp Families!

Happy New Year!

We are in competition mode which means we need a reminder about dress code!  Please remember that all of our team members should be wearing all black to team classes, including sparkle squad and frozen friends.  If your dancer has back to back classes and one of those classes is a ballet class they still need to have on their proper ballet attire and hair in a real bun.  If there is no time to change they can always wear their ballet clothes to their other classes.  Ballet clothes are always a right choice for dress code!  Our comp director Miss Lori is going to be following up with more info about dress code.

Just a quick check in to talk about our comp season some changes that have come our way.

First I want to remind you of our team dress rehearsal day on Jan 18th, Miss Lori is will be sending out the schedule and more information for that.  We will be keeping the kids in their cohorts as best we can and they have the opportunity to perform for each other.

We have great news and some not so great news.  So I will get the not so great news out of the way first.

Our comp on the weekend of Feb 26 was cancelled and not rescheduled.  The good news is we are going to use that weekend as a virtual comp showcase for friends and family and as a filming day for any virtual competition opportunities. We will bring in lighting and lay down a dance floor in our cheer room so they will have a real performance space.

We want to make sure these girls get to compete so we would like to go to Reno for our comp on March 12-14.  We still need to get confirmation that the competition has space for us before we give you the details, so hang tight!

We fully understand that there may be some families who are not comfortable going to out of state to compete.  We respect that and fully ok with your dancer sitting this out.  We just ask you to tell us ASAP so we can make any choreographic changes.

We are staying the course for our April competition, Celebrity in San Rafael.  It may be possible that this comp will pivot to a virtual competition, and we will be ready!

We would like Frozen Friends to join us at our May 14-16 competition.

And we would love for Sparkle Squad and Frozen Friends to join us at Hollywood Connection dance Convention on May 20.

For right now we are putting a pause on collecting any more comp fees and we will keep you updated with some new due dates.

Lastly Lori will be updating our ECPAC News calendar with the names and locations of our competitions next week.

January 7th Update

Dress Code

Please remember the importance of appropriate DRESS CODE upon our returning to regular classes from winter break. This includes ALL classes, Academy & Competitive classes. Please make sure that dancers are wearing the correct leotard color for their level and hair is pulled back into a proper bun. Teachers have been lenient prior to break but will be expecting proper Dress Code moving forward.

December 16th Update

An Important note from Miss Nina & Miss Shelby

Hello ECPAC Families,

Miss Shelby is moving back to her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska in January.
If there is one thing we have learned during this pandemic it’s how to adapt and to figure out how to make things work.  Shelby LOVES her students and wants to continue to teach.  We are planning on having Miss Shelby teach some of her advanced classes via Zoom.  Studios across the country are running classes this way with much success, even my Gabby has a college dance class where the professor teaches via Zoom.  We are going to give it our best shot!

I have also hired a Ballet teacher with 20+ years of teaching experience.  We will be introducing her as soon as we have made final decisions on who will be teaching which classes.

Nutcracker will continue in 2021, Shelby and I are even discussing how she would still be able to direct remotely and travel in monthly!  Anything is possible!

We know the kids have had a lot of change recently, one thing will always remain the same, we will always be fully committed to finding adding teacher to our family who will help them reach their goals and we will always think outside the box to give them what they need.  They are loved!

As always, I am available to answer any questions you may have!

Nina

Hello ECPAC Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Recently Governor Newsome placed the majority of California back in the Purple Tier.  When we started our dance season in August were in the purple tier as well and the studio was still operating while diligently working to keep our dancers and staff safe and healthy.

We are proud to say we have been meeting (and exceeding!) the expectations for our business operations under our Safer Studio™ Standards.

  • We enforce proper masking for all dancers, staff, and visitors.
  • Health checks upon arrival
  • Our employees work from home whenever possible and are screened when they do come to the facility
  • Our enrollment has been carefully managed to reduced facility capacity.

Additionally, we are fully tech-enabled with online and virtual options for every class and rehearsal, attendance in our programs is limited by registration or reservation-only, our public areas such as our lobby remains closed to parents of older dancers.

Our strong focus on safety has made it possible to maintain the benefits that dance fosters for the whole health of the child – including physical, social-emotional and mental well-being – in a very low-risk environment. I am pleased to report that we have had over 10,000 studio visits since we reopened and 0 cases of covid from a student or staff member.

Yes, it’s been a fulltime effort to implement all of our safety measures, but what we are doing is working!

We are proud to continue to be a BRIGHT SPOT and a POSITIVE OUTLET in the lives of your children and we look forward to our next few weeks of programming before December Break.

In the meantime, please join us in doing all you can to keep our community safe by wearing face coverings, washing your hands, and staying home if you are unwell.

As always, your teachers and I thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Miss Nina Koch

Hollywood Connection- Nationals (June-San Diego)

Banquet tickets, so far there have been very few who have responded.  Tickets are $95 and will sell out.  For those of you who responded I am keeping track of you, but please know that if you do not respond wanting a ticket you will not be able to attend. This is NOT Mandatory, but a special event for the dancers and families.  Please let me know by Monday May 24th by emailing ecpaccompteam@gmail.com

Anyone wondering what the Banquet is, the final night of Nationals HC holds a banquet for the dancers where certain daces will receive awards, like an award show. Everyone gets dressed up in formal wear (not red carpet) and has an evening to celebrate the dancers accomplishments from the week. It is a fun night and a great way to end the week.

April 15th Update

We are so excited to participate in our upcoming Virtual Competition!!!!

To pass the time, we put together a in house video competition for homework and to help us kick off and celebrate National Dance week! details below.

We have given the dancers an assignment and it might require your help (just a little). We are asking all the dancers to do a 30 sec video that they will send to  ecpaccompteam@gmail.com when they are done.

Please submit all videos no later than Monday, April 20th.

Here are the details:

    1. Videos need to be no more than 30 sec
    2. Dancers are to make a dance video in any genre they choose.
      • The dancers can use part of their own dances they already have, a combo they learned on line, a combo they learned in class, improv or they can choreograph a piece themselves (that would be my favorite:) NO STRESS JUST FUN
      • They are also allowed to do a really fun turn combination or tap combination for their entry
    3. Costumes are awesome but not required. Music should be appropriate for all ages.
    4. email videos to ecpaccompteam@gmail.com when done. No later than April 20th, Monday

  • Every team member is asked to submit a piece. The teacher will help them during classes and answer any questions they might have or give them guidance.
  • The pieces will be posted throughout the week next week National Dance Week, , starting Monday and going through Thursday on the ECPAC comp team facebook page.
  • Awards and prizes will be given out onFriday the April 24.

*****There will be a second competition for dancers who create another video with a family member (or more than one). Same rules apply but your dancer has to teach and include someone from their family as well.*****

December 4th Update

Theme of the month is Core!

Hips and core & goods and core –
Core is the Epicenter of the dancers body. There is no movement without core and the core is based from your hips. Even at the earliest of ages the core has to be introduced
  • Engagement – Knowing how to engage the core is one thing, keeping it engaged is another.
    1. Thread the needle through the belly button and tie the string in the center of the back
    2. Lift up the hip bones
    3. Zip the sipper from the pubic bone to the belly button
      • Another visual is envisioning suspenders attached from your hip bone, over the shoulder and  attached in the back to the tip of your tailbone. When the tailbone rotates down the hip bones come up
  • beginning dancers can simply walk around the classroom or home with the abdominal muscles engaged.
    • Slowly add arms or moving in plie or adding soute’.

Sept 18th Updates
A note from Miss Stephanie:
Hello parents,
We just had our first meeting for our team leads and that is where your emails are coming from. We are working hard to streamline the process so bare with us. The team leads will communicate with me on any events or things needed for the team as a whole in the upcoming season. They are the representatives for me and I will work with them to keep them informed and therefore keep you informed. From there we have team moms. Each team is assigned one. They will work directly with the team leaders for things like volunteers for snack table, change of times during competition and other unforeseen events. You may get a few emails or texts from them to remind them of upcoming events, changes etc… if your child is on multiple teams please be patient we are working that out. We also have committees that you may have signed up for in the spring when you signed your contract. The team leads may be contacting you for help with those things if the need arises. This is a great opportunity for us to all get involved and to really communicate with each other to make this a great year for the team.

Here is the chain if you have a question or concern about your child’s team or events happening for the entire team: Team Mom…..Team Lead…..Stephanie …..Nina

Hopefully this way we are all working together. Thank all of you for your support and I am looking to an exciting new season

Competitions

October Fundraisers
October is almost here and as many of you are already aware, October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness month. We are partnering with Imagine Dance Challenge to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). We’re so excited to be doing this, as we know that breast cancer touches so many lives. BCRF is dedicated to ending breast cancer. Every $50.00 raised is ONE HOUR of critical
breast cancer research You can donate as much or as little as you want. Every penny
helps us get closer to our goal! Click here to donate!

You can also help us raise money by purchasing  one of these gorgeous hair bows that our own Krista Le Hagglof made for us! Every penny raised by these bow sales will go to the BCRF!
They are available in the studio nowbreastcancerphoto.jpg
The prices are as follows:
Lg. Cheerleader Style Hair Bow | $8.00
Med. Hair Bow with Clip | $4.00
Sm. Breast Cancer Ribbon | 2 for $5.00

We are also giving the girls a way to earn points for their teams by wearing their BCRF Bows!  Wear your bow to class, earn a point.  Wear your bow to school and Instagram a pic… earn a point – give a bow to your best friend and Instagram a pic of the both of you, earn 2 points (make sure you are friends with ECPAC on Instagram, tag @eastcountypac and use the #eastcountpacbcrf so your points are counted)

To wrap up October Fundraising we will be hosting Food Trucks and Families on NOV 2nd (5pm – 8pm) in our parking lot! The event is FREE of charge and we will be accepting donations at the door. Bring cash or card for dinner at the food trucks and Silent Auction items! Enjoy an amazing evening with music, good food and friends!! All proceeds will be donated to BCRF. Everyone is welcome, so invite family, friends and co-workers!

STUDIO DIRECTOR
We are currently in the process of switching all of our systems back to Studio Director. Amilia was just not sold as promised and is making more of a headache on the admin end that is needed. While we will miss the parent app and the store from Amilia we are hoping that everyone will be happier back in Studio Director. Your October tuition is set to come out of Studio Director, please be patient with us as we make the switch back!
