4/22 UPDATE

I am absolutely LOVING all of the videos I am getting!!!! I am sooooo proud of your dancers for be courageous and doing something that may be scary at first, but they all have done so good!!!

Our awards will be Tuesday during our PC class!!! Award certificates will be dropped off after (to comply with social distancing)

I gave the dancers HOMEWORK this week.

Part 1: I would like them to listen to “Let’s get loud” (link to music is below)

  • Step 1.) write down the order of the song (ex: Intro, Chorus, Verse 1, Bridge, Verse 2, Chorus, etc…) for the whole song.
  • Step 2.) highlight or circle the section they are in. (Hint EVERYONE should have every chorus marked, as a section they are in.)
  • Step 3.) mark the time of your cue for dancers entrance. all cues should be one 8 count BEFORE the start of your section. (dances can not enter once their section has already started, their need to be fully on stage, in view of audience when choreography for their section starts)

this homework is for their knowledge only. it will help them to bettie understand their music and identify their cues. this exercise will also be helpful for all dance routines to come in their dance journey.

Part 2: video tape your dancer doing either “Let’s get loud” or “Buzz off” routine and email to ecpacperformance@gmail.com

(link to music in below) this is not an optional exercise, these videos will be seen by me, and me only.

4/15 UPDATE

Video Dance Challenge

We have given the dancers an assignment and it might require your help (just a little). We are asking all the dancers to do a 30 sec video that they will send to ecpacperformance@gmail.com when they are done. Please submit all videos no later than Monday, April 20th.

Here are the details:
  1. dances need to be no more than 30 sec
  2. They are to making a dance video that can be in any genre they choose.
  3. Costumes are awesome but not required. Props are always welcomed. Music should be appropriate for all ages.
  4. Dances can use part of their own dances they already have, a combo they learned on line, a combo they learned in class, improv or they can choreograph a piece themselves (that would be my favorite:) NO STRESS JUST FUN!
  5. Every team member is asked to submit a piece. The teacher will help them during classes and answer any questions they might have or give them guidance.
  6. The pieces will be posted throughout the week next week, on the ECPAC Performance Company facebook page. During National Dance Week, starting Monday and going through Friday **Link for private social media group where videos will be posted- click here
  7. Awards and prizes will be given out during class on Tuesday, April 28th.
This is a fun way to get the dancers creativity going and have fun 🙂

***I had also mentioned sending full video of one of their Performance company dances, but I am going to negate that and postpone it to a further date. I would like them to focus on the above video challenge this week.

enjoy the process and have fun!

See below for any missed information as well as check the main studio thread for more studio related information.

Spring break is March 16th-March 20th. There is regular class the second week of break.

Please have your dancers review all of their dances over break. They will be asked to  perform the chorus of “lets get loud” individually. I expect everyone to know the 4 eight counts by themselves. This is the first dance we learned.

Great America– I have finally been in contact with Great America. We are on a wait list for May 3rd. The back up dates we are looking at, are May 2nd or April 25th. There will be a google doc. form to fill out to authorize a charge for payment to be processed from your account to cover the cost of your preferred amount of tickets. Dancers/Performers need a ticket & at least 1 guardian must enter the park with their dancer. Dancers are free to enjoy the park after they perform so it makes for a fun filled family day!

Tickets for Performers & Spectators 9ages 3+) are $35.00. There are also additional meal and drink deals that can be purchases if desired as well. Be on the look out for an email with more information and your google doc. link. ALL payments must be processed 20 days before our performance date.

Attendance is important!!! Not just in your Performance Company rehearsal class, but it all of your classes, no matter age. Each week your dancer attends class as a “work out” of their body. Not work as in exercise, but as in muscle memory. All dance classes are important for the body, Simply the same as school is important for the brain.

CONVENTION OPPROTUNITIES

Conventions are GREAT learning experiences for all dancers. A dance convention is a weekend of dancing and learning from other talented and sometimes famous dance teacher from all over the country, in jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap, musical theater and more. Both of these conventions are wonderful opportunities for your dancer. Both conventions offer a shorter schedule for the younger aged dancers. As well as either observation bands or parent seminars also. Both conventions are wonderful, a lot of the dancers really enjoyed velocity last year. Conventions are also another great way for dancers to connect and feel supported by their studio competition dancers, who are in MANY of their tech classes. If you have any question don’t hesitate to ask me or any of our office staff or teachers.

UPDATES HAVE BEEN MADE. Sunday, October 27th, we will be having a short 1 hour choreography session from 4pm-5pm. We will be joining with the ECPAC ambassadors to learn our Holiday and Light parade choreography. This is NOT mandatory, but if your child can make it, it will help to front load their brains with the parade choreography. The Holiday season is big time for us. There will be a performance 1 week and a parade the next. This doesn’t leave much time for retention of new choreography. That is why the more they learn ahead of time, the more it is like review for them.

Team Jacket Update- Comp has decided not to go with the athletic material jacket. Instead we will be going with a Competition/Performance Company sweatshirt and leggings. The good news is the price will be cheaper than the jacket. The Sweatshirt won’t be mandatory this year, but next year it will. Sweatshirts are great for the colder weather. If everyone does purchase the sweatshirt we could discuss wearing them for the winter parades, but again they are not mandatory. As soon as I have a confirmed price I will follow up!

if you haven’t already – Please take a quick moment and fill out this form click here

if you haven’t helped your child filled out their Monthly spotlight click here

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I am here for all of you, to help make your time at ECPAC and with the Performance Company as smooth as possible. Thank you for being Rock Stars!

8/28 UPDATE

Thank you, so much parents for getting your kids to class in correct dress code this week! I am so happy I have such a great group of parents to work with this season! I appreciate you all working to prepare your child for class. Don’t forget hair pulled back helps your child see clearly when they dance.

**Important**

We will be placing costume orders on Friday 8/30. Please be sure to add payment to your Amilia account so Miss Wendy can charge your account for your child’s costume and gear. This is different than Tuition. Tuition allows ONLY for your auto pay to take place monthly, not for additional payments to be processed.

Click here see how to add Payment Method to amilia.

If you are unsure if you have added your preferred payment method to amilia correctly, you can stop by the studio or call and Miss Wendy would be more than happy to check you account.

Practice

Excited is an understatement! Your kids ROCK!!! Yesterdays class was great! We have finished all choreography for our first dance “Let’s get Loud”. This be the first routine that we will be performing. We will continue to do this dance all season, occasionally placing it to new music for the holidays, but the routine will stay the same. This makes it easy for the kids to remember the dance and better focus on actively making their corrections.

We will begin reviewing and finishing our second routine, “Run away baby”. Keep practicing at home. It will begin to be more difficult for dancers to remember choreography to 2 dances at the same time, but practicing at home will keep their brains fresh.

Below is the video of the whole routine “Let’s get Loud”

Continue encouraging your child to practice, practice, practice at home. I could see a huge difference this week. Dancers seemed more confident and excited this week. Keep up the great work. our song is “Let’s get Loud” by Jenifer Lopez

Tips for helping your child practice at home

  • Listen to the song in the car, on the way to school, dance, the grocery store, anywhere
  • listen for the music changes in the song
    • click here for a lyric sheet that i color coded
  • count to the beat of the music (music beats are in segments of 8)

8/14 UPDATE

Your kids are doing such a great job learning there dance for our first performance! remember practice at home is vital for your child, it helps them to be better prepared for practice each week and confident when they hit that performance stage!

The song we are using is “Let’s get loud” by Jenifer Lopez. Listen to the song over and over with your child and help them listen for the changes in the song. ex; chorus, verse, music/instrumental break. Find the pattern in the song. Songs have patterns, such as ABA , Chorus, verse, Chorus OR ABBA, Chorus, Verse, Verse, Chorus.

Practice Videos

remember the “chorus” choreography is the first thing your child should learn. this is to ensure your child gets to dance multiple times in a dance.

Performance Event Calendar

Check this regularly. I will always removed the old calendar and update it with the most current Performance Event calendar. I will update this, as dates may be changed beyond our control, or if dates are added or removed.

Boys are wearing Black Slip on Jazz Shoes child T7702C adult T7702

Attendance

Remember all absences need to be reported to ecpacperformance@gmail.com

Regular class attendance is important for your child’s individual growth. Your child must be present at the last Performance Company class, before a performance, in order to perform at a scheduled performance. For example, our first performance is scheduled for Saturday September 21st. Your child MUST be present at Performance Company class Tuesday September 17th, in order to perform. If they are absent the week of a performance they will be choreographed out, for that upcoming performance. This is for the benefit of all PC team members.

Your child is allowed to miss 2 performances through out their commitment for the season. if they miss Performance Company class before an Performance Event and are choreographed out for the Performance Event, that missed performance will count as 1 of your child’s 2 performances they are allowed to miss. more than 2 missed event performances will result in dismissal from the team.

Absent Form

if your child needs to miss a performance due to a scheduling conflict, the Absent form needs to be filled out 2 weeks prior to the missed event.
